Welcome, this is my Freshman Composition ENGL 2024 Spring Portfolio
When it turned twelve in the morning during New Years Even I did not imagine I was going to take a class that would challenge my writing abilities, this class did. When doing some of the assignments I was clueless as to how I should start of what I should say. However, with a well written guide by Professor Williams I was able to get my ideas in order. Not only writing but also reading examples of these assignments help me see writing and the articles in the media I read regularly in a different way. Now I understand how things are summarized academically and the importance of it; it is very time consuming to read through a large text, not everyone, specially nowadays, has the time to do such thing. With an academic summary you can find the purpose and message of an article pretty fast, simplifying things for the benefit of the reader.
Summarizing things properly was not the only thing that I was able to achieve during this semester. I was able to dissect media that I myself consume, finding out and noticing things I did not know where there in the past. When writing my Observational essay and carefully listening to the music along with the lyrics being used and how they were used makes me appreciate the art of writing even more than before.
I was able to write about the things that I like and that inspired me to be a better and different person during this class. An example of this was when writing my Language and Literacy Narrative essay where I was given the chance to write about any type of literacy I preferred. Writing about the things you like is similar to telling your friend about a girl you like; you enjoy doing it, it is something you want to talk about and there is a lot to say. To me, it can also be compared to a late night talk with the boys, when you just sit down and talk about like and how its been, the sun rises and the conversation is still going on.
Overall this semester was enlighten to me and I saw a growth in my writing, now you can go through my portfolio and enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them.
